Earlier this week, we were treated to a sneak peek of the newest Fall collection from Maggie Sottero and Sottero Midgley. Now, we are even more excited to make our way to New York City for Bridal Fashion Week! Our insiders tell us that we are in store for some fun new trends on this season’s runways! So, here’s the top five hottest Fall trends that we expect to see from some of our favorite designers:
- Short & Sassy
Shorter hemlines are making their way to the runway. We expect to see everything from wedding-dress minis to tea-length, with lots of hi-low hemlines scattered about. In any case, the perk to these styles? They’re a perfect opportunity to show off your wedding shoes!!
- Wear Your Lace on Your Sleeves
We give Princess Kate full credit for bringing back the wedding dress sleeve! Not only are cap sleeves coming back, but full lace sleeves have been popping up in many designers’ new collections. Sleeves add unparalleled class to a dress, and can be an incredible romantic detail (not to mention they’ll keep you warmer in the fall and winter months.) Many of our favorite styles incorporate a delicate removable cap sleeve that makes your dress take on a whole new look simply by adding or removing the lace add-on. Another new trend in sleeves…the “cold shoulder”. This little cut-out design will definitely be turning some heads next season!
- Pretty in Pink
Blush gowns started becoming more and more popular last year and they are now at the peak of popularity. We think pink is going to be the new white for the upcoming season. Whether finished in bolder, saturated shades or washed in lighter, petal pinks, these hot new looks will have you thinking pink!
- Birds of a Feather
We have seen some peeks of feathered finishes added to bodices, trains, and even full skirts made of feather, so we can’t wait to see what the runways will bring with this special detail. Feathers are a sure fire way to turn your wedding dress into a party dress! The idea of a feathered wedding dress a little scary? Why not try a fun feather accent, like a hair piece or belt?
- Take Cover
Cover-ups, jackets, and bolero’s, oh my! We think the Fall lines will embrace the cover up look in a variety of ways. Some of our favorites are the embellished bolero’s that can easily change up the look of your dress, and the glittery jacket that will add a touch of elegant warmth to your special day. A removable jacket is also a great way to add lace sleeves or feather detail without making the full commitment! So, there’s our predictions…we’ll be checking back in the next few weeks to let you know how we did in forecasting the newest trends in wedding dresses. And, hopefully, we’ll have a few pics to share!! In the meantime, let us know what trends you are looking most forward to seeing. At The Vow, we love to hear from you!
